Denver’s 2nd Annual Chicken Coop Tour!
We’re excited to announce the 2nd annual chicken coop tour, organized by Denver Botanic Gardens. There has always been a wonderful community of chicken owners in Denver, but now that we have new Food Producing Animals laws there are even more people raising chickens in their backyards (and more people interested in learning about it!).
Denver Botanic Gardens Chicken Coop Tour
Saturday, October 1st
10am – 4pm
The owners of chicken coops all throughout Denver will open the doors to their chicken homes to provide guests an opportunity to see what backyard farming is all about. These friends of fowl will be available to explain how raising chickens not only provides fresh eggs, but also keeps gardens strong. Additionally, these experts will share their “egg-speriences” with chicken care, and answer questions on compliance with city ordinances, coop design and more.
CALL FOR ENTRIES: Coop owners who want to share their coops, their chickens and their experiences with the public can click here for more information and an application.
TICKETS FOR THE TOUR: The tours are completely self-guided. Participants are encouraged to “peck around” whatever locations they see fit. Tour map sales will begin on September 1st. Tour participants will receive a map, and the coops will be open on October 1st from 10am – 4pm.
COST: Tickets are sold in group rates — $20 for a group of four people. To purchase tickets for the chicken coop tour go to www.botanicgardens.org or call 720-865-3500.
